Kitesurfing athlete Casey Fairhurst recently wrote about her experience with CBD and we wanted to share. We're thrilled to have her and Scotty Metcalfe as part of the Seven Points team.
I changed my diet, my routine, started daily yoga, and even hit the gym to start strengthen up. Not all at once of course, but I wanted to explore and finally take care of my hard pushed body. I love being active, even being able to do so much, but eventually with long hours working as a kiteboarding instructor and hard crashes, it can certainly take a toll.
Even with my new healthy lifestyle and yoga routine I would still ache, a lot! I started to get pain even when not kite surfing. A simple squat would send pains through my knee and up my leg. Knee injures are very common amongst kitesurfers and the thought of injury scared me so I started researching again. maybe I’m putting too much stress on my body, maybe I need to rest and recovery instead.
My partner Scotty, who also suffers from tennis elbow after big kitelooping days, was seeking something to help with his pain. We love kite surfing but these pains were holding us back.
That’s when we stumbled across CBD oil, specifically Seven Points CBD, a small start-up company active on our Instagram account. I often saw posts promoting faster recovery for athletes, a natural alternative. I was curious so I started to dig in and explore their website which, in the end lead to days of research. I had to get my hands on this product and try for myself.
Cannabidiol is a popular natural remedy used for many common ailments.
Better known as CBD, it is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant, Cannabis Sativa. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and causes the sensation of getting “high” that’s often associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. This quality makes CBD an appealing option for those who are looking for relief from pain and other symptoms without the mind-altering effects of marijuana or certain pharmaceutical drugs.
CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. It’s gaining momentum in the health and wellness world with some scientific studies confirming it may help treat a variety of ailments like chronic pain and anxiety.
Initially, I only wanted to use as a pain-killer however from the research I’ve found this could be an excellent daily supplement as CBD interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system which regulates the body’s normal homeostasis – or general state of balance which can maintain a healthy mood, sleep habit, appetite, and pain response.
I have been taking everyday now for 2 months now, and guess what: I feel GREAT. I add 6 drops each morning either directly under my tongue or simply added into foods and drinks. There are so many options to choose from such as the tincture bottle, a gelcap, or the most popular infused honey.
What interested me so much with Seven Points CBD oil is the product is totally organic. I believe in finding alternative remedy rather than buying prescription drugs and supporting the pharmaceutical industry. Seven Points are real people with similar interest, The founder of Seven Points has personally seen the negative impacts of prescription drug abuse & addiction, specifically prescription opiate based pain killers. Their mission is simple: provide a pure, healthy, safe, non-psychoactive, non-addictive alternative for relief from stress, anxiety, and pain via an all natural remedy that is harmonious with the active lifestyles of their customers.
What made me write this blog post and what finally hit the nail in the head for me, is how this wonderful oil has not only helped my partner and I but now also the people we love most.
My mother Michelle who suffers with an emotional disorder just recently came to visit us in Peru for 3 weeks and was finally was able to try this product I have been raving about. She has always been prone to anxiety, hormonal imbalance, and general bad eating habits which has effected her life in several ways.
I convinced her to try the tincture and to experiment during her stay here. She did not feel the need for daily use at the time and only took it before social events but she felt relaxed and at ease imminently and was able to enjoy her days without feeling anxious, at all. Over the next few days she grew an appetite, more than I have ever seen which was still a lot less than my partner and I but she started to lose weight fast. Maybe it was from eating more, or reduced inflammation but she looked and felt great. So much so that has now been using CBD as a daily supplement back home in Scotland and still feeling the benefits.
Giving your body what is deserves, can take time and finding what really suits your individual body’s needs requires experimenting.
